A Servants Heart

Jack is a 2 1/2 year old that loves to help out around the house and do projects with Daddy & Mommy. We have kept him busy this summer!
 Helping wash the car

Vacuuming (perfect size to vacuum under the table!)
Cleaning the baseboards (see Amelia trying to keep up with Jack in the background?)

Changing the oil in the car (or at least watching and learning)

This is just a handful of what he does.  He is also always busy helping to mow the lawn (with his bubble blower lawn mower), pull weeds, cook, take out the trash, feed Java, clean up the books and toys, throw away diapers, help with laundry, help with his baby sister . The list could go on and on.  And the great thing is that he just volunteers to do these things!  Such a sweet boy with a servants heart! He is a blessing and never ceases to amaze me!!!

A Day at the Museum

Barrett took the week off from work this week. Instead of going on a vacation out of town we chose to do some fun things around town that we wouldn't normally do.  Monday morning we drove downtown and went to the Perot Science Museum.
When you touch the wall, it lights up.
They had a great children's area at the museum. Jack had fun with these play activities...
...Talking on the phone,
shopping & sorting vegetables at the farmers market,
 looking at a snake,
 being a construction worker,
and playing at the water table.
 Amelia played at it too.
Even Daddy thought it was pretty cool.
Amelia loved seeing her reflection in the mirror.
Then we moved on to the big people section...dinosaurs!
 The hubs and I.
Checking out the animals with daddy
We took a lunch break and went across the street for some mexican food at El Fenix. Yummo!
Amelia finally decided to fall asleep once we were half way through our meal.
We went back for another quick run through the rest of the museum. Look what we found. One of Jack's favorite things...a helicopter!
We wore these kiddos out...and ourselves! It was a fun day at the museum!  As always it is an adjustment going places with a toddler and baby.  You may not will not be able to read all about every thing at the museum (not that I was ever much of a sign reader at museums anyways.)  Its just more of a "hey, look at that cool looking thing over there" and then move on to the next cool looking thing to keep the 2 year olds attention type scenario.  But you know what? I'm okay with that right now.  We are getting out, exploring, and seeing new things with our little ones. It will be a blink of an eye and our babies will be all grown up. :-(  I'm taking in this fun time with them while I have it!

The Waving Cat

Remember this silly waving cat from the Chinese buffet that Jack loved? Well apparently after our trip to that restaurant on Fathers Day, Aunt Tara saw how much Jack loved the waving cat and thought that Jack needed one of his own.
So she went home, googled it, and look what she surprised Jack with...
...his very own Chinese waving cat! Any other time in my life
I would look at this lovely cat and want nothing to do with having it as a piece of decor in our house.  But after seeing how excited it made my child in a restaurant and now in my very own home....its beautiful! So funny how that goes!
This is as close to having a pet cat that we will ever come! Doesn't look like he minds one bit!

The 4th in Houston

We drove down to Houston to visit GramPam & Pa-Pa over the 4th of July weekend.
Amelia wore her red, white & blue dress I made for her.
Jack wore his USA shirt
It is not an easy task getting a picture of these 2 together smiling and looking at the camera.

 2 happy ladies
We were celebrating some birthdays while down there, so we enjoyed a yummy cookie cake (Jack's favorite) for dessert each day.
 Jack & Spot
 Me and my baby :-)
Up on her toes.  She looked like she was about to stand up and start walking.

We spent one evening at the pool.
 Jack loved the water slides!!!
 Our family
Jack is all decked out in his swimwear but at least he is staying afloat!
 Check out that happy face!
The guys project for the weekend....power washing the driveway and sidewalks.
 All the guys
Taking a break under a tree
Amelia's favorite toy right now is this alphabet bug.  She thinks the best part is chewing on the short yellow rope.
Pizza making with GramPam
 Watermelon with Pa-Pa
Jack LOVED his big bowl of watermelon! He ate most of it too.
Amelia didn't like the taste of the watermelon but she sure did look cute next to it in her watermelon dress.
Story time with Jack's new train book from GramPam & Pa-Pa
Amelia was having a fussy evening.  I don't think she was feeling too well.  But GramPam held her and she eventually fell asleep in her arms. So precious!

It was a fun weekend!
