16 Weeks

How far along: 16 Weeks
Size of Baby: about 4 1/2 inches long. Last week the doctor said the baby was 4 ounces.
Maternity Clothes: Shorts, some shirts. Still love to wear my comfy stretchy pants and longer regular tops.
Gender: It's a BOY!!!
Movement: Haven't felt him move yet, but the books say it could happen anytime now. Most people I have talked to say it happened for them more around 20 weeks.
What I miss: Nothing. I love being preggo!
Sleep: I toss and turn a lot during the night, but sleep the best in a nice cool room with the fan blowing and a big extra pillow to snuggle with (and Barrett too.)
Symptoms: This week I have really begun to notice being out of breath at times - even when I have no reason to be out of breath.
Cravings: I would have to say pizza and artichokes! Mmmm, we are having artichokes again tonight with our dinner. I can't wait!
Aversions: I still don't like the thought of seafood.
Best moment of the week: I really feel like this week my tummy has started to pop out some. It is fun to know it is because of our baby boy is growing bigger and stronger.
What I look forward to: Hearing the little guys heartbeat tomorrow at my 16 week appointment!

It's a......

.... BOY!!!!!!
We are so excited!!!! It is so incredible knowing that there is this perfectly formed baby growing inside with a head, eyes, nose, hands, feet, tiny fingers and toes and a beating heart. What a miracle this little guy is!!! We are so thankful to the Lord for allowing us the chance to be a mommy and daddy to such a sweet baby boy! We went to a special sonogram doctor a couple weeks ago to be sure the baby was growing well and healthy. At that appointment the doctor said the baby was most likely a boy but couldn't say for sure. He wanted us to go back again in a couple weeks to remeasure some areas of concern (this is another story, but everything looked great today) and look at the baby again. Well today we went back to re-look and remeasure the baby and found out for sure that our baby really is a BOY and he looks very healthy! It is always so reassuring to go to these doctor visits and to see/hear a beating heart and watch an active baby moving all around. We go for our next OB visit a week from Friday then back to the sonogram doctor at 20 weeks. I treasure all these sneak peeks at seeing the cuteness of our little baby boy.

Does This Count???

Barrett has been preparing for the new baby by reading different dad-to-be books over the past months. He is very good at researching and learning, so I know once our little one arrives he will have a good idea of what to expect. But does this count as practice for holding our baby???? Hopefully our baby won't be over 60 lbs. like little Miss Java. I hope she is enjoying all this attention while she can get it. Something tells me she won't be getting her nightly massages, lullaby's sung to her, and quite as many hugs from her Daddy as she has become so familiar with. If Barrett loves our child even close to the amount that he loves our dog, it will be one REALLY loved kid!!! Barrett and Java

Our 1st Big Purchase for Baby

I know, I'm only 13 weeks along and don't actually need to have purchased a stroller quite this early, but I fell in absolute LOVE with a stroller this week! I was out browsing at a baby store with my mom and came across a brand new stroller that they had just gotten in at the store that very day. I came home and let Barrett know that I was in love! To my surprise this morning, my wonderful husband asked me if I wanted to go to the baby store today to pick up the stroller. Yay!!!! Barrett's first (of many) Daddy assembly projects.
Putting on the wheels
Assembling the carriage
He did it!
The finished product! It is just what I have always dreamed of! Now all we need is our little baby to stroll with! 6 months isn't that long, is it?

Sleepover with Uncle Barrett & Aunt Tanya

We had a sleepover with some of the nephews and a niece - Chandler, Camryn, Calahan, and Dylan. We all had a GREAT TIME!!!! Dinner - Build your own pizza
The most entertaining part was the "slip-n-slide." I had called Tara earlier in the day asking if we could use their slip-n-slide for the kids to play on. She asked if I want the big one or the small one. I said the big one. Little did I know it was this big!!! It was WONDERFUL!!!! It actually wasn't to hard to set up and the kids loved it!

Cal is climbing up while Cami is sliding down.
Chandler on the slide.
Java even had a great time! She stayed in the pool on the bottom while the kids slid down. Here is Dylan getting his nice Java greeting.

Movie time in the gameroom - The Incredibles
Java laid down with the kiddos too. She loved all the action!
