Draw Near

Starting last March, Barrett and I took on the challenge of reading through the Bible in a year. This was something I always thought would be neat to do, so we both decided to take on the challenge together. I know there are many different strategies for doing this, but for my first time to do this I wanted to start in Genesis and end in Revelation. So far so good. We made it through the Old Testament and currently we are in the middle of the gospel of Luke. As I have been reading all these stories, I keep having to remind myself that all these stories are TRUE! The more I think about it, the more incredible it becomes. It is amazing how the Bible has stories of just ordinary people like me, and the Lord did some extraordinary things in their lives. But as I read, I have discovered that these people that had these miracles preformed for them had an amazing amount of faith. It lists in Hebrews 11 (that Dr. Graham started preaching on this past Sunday) a multitude of things that occurred just because of an individuals faith.
Hebrews 11: 1 says "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." There is a song that I have been listening to over and over again, and as I listen to it I think, what could happen if I truly drew near to the Lord, and had complete faith in what He could do.
Draw Near
written and sung by Shelley E. Johnson
Just as Moses spoke to You face to face
And Daniel heard from You in his dreams
And David with his songs of praise
So I long for You to speak to me
And as Job heard Your voice in the whirlwind
And Isaiah saw Your throne room of glory
And Samuel heard You call his name again and again
So I long for You to show Yourself to me
I'll draw near, Closer Lord to Thee
Lord, draw nearer to me
So the next time I wonder if You're strong enough
To calm the storm that's raging against me
I'll remember that night with Your disciples
When You spoke and silenced the sea
And whenever I am desperate for a glimmer of hope
For a miracle of sweet relief
I'll remember how the woman touched the fringe of Your robe
And she was healed just because she believed
My prayer right now is that we will draw near to the Lord and have complete faith that He CAN do all things! "When we believe that God will fulfill His promises even when we don't see those promises materialized yet, we demonstrate true faith."

Whataburger Ribbon Cutting

We went to the Ribbon Cutting of the new Whataburger in Allen off of 75 and Stacy Rd. My Dad just moved to that new store as the General Manager. We ate some yummy food - chicken strips, burgers, fried pies, cookies, and drinks. Yum! I also won one of the raffle prizes - Free Breakfast on a Bun for a week!!!
I think just our family took over half the store. There were grandparents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunt, cousins.
My Grandfather, Papa, did the invocation.
Whataburger made a donation to the Allen Community Outreach.

My Dad received a few different plaques from different places (like the city of Allen) for the new store.
My brothers Aaron (from New York) and Alex (from Michigan) were still here on break from college so they were able to come too.
Dad cut the ribbon.
Have you ever seen scissors so big??? I would love a pair of those scissors for my classroom. :-)
My Dad and I. Thanks for a fun evening, Dad! Congratulations on your new store.

Happy 2010!

Happy New Year! On New Years Eve we had some of my family over for a "Breakfast Dinner" of waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, and toast. It was a fun way to spend the evening. Throughout the night we played a round of the games Taboo and Yahtzee, watched a movie, saw the ball drop in NYC, and went outside at the stroke of midnight (just in time to hear all the fireworks going off.)
The Breakfast Dinner Crew
As has been the tradition since before I was even born (I think) we all went for the annual lunch at the Galleria for Mimie's Birthday. This is something we all look forward to each year!New Years at the Galleria.
On New Years Day we also spent part of the day with the other Walch family for football watching, chili eating, and lots of playing!
I am looking forward to whatever blessings the Lord has in store for us this year in 2010. It's going to be a great year!
